Late Return Policy

Vehicles must be returned to the agreed return location by the date and time stated in the reservation and rental agreement. If an extension is not requested and approved, the vehicle must be returned at the originally scheduled return time, or immediately if that time has already passed.

Extensions

A customer who needs additional time must request and receive written approval before the scheduled return time. An extension is not effective until it has been approved and all additional rental charges, security deposit requirements, and other conditions have been completed. Keeping the vehicle beyond the scheduled return time does not automatically extend the reservation.

Grace Period

A 30-minute grace period applies to daily rentals. A vehicle returned more than 30 minutes after the scheduled return time will be considered late and subject to late return charges.

Late-Return Charges

The following charges may apply:

  • 31 minutes or more late: a minimum charge equal to one additional rental day, plus applicable taxes and card-processing fees.
  • Each additional 24-hour period (or partial period): An additional daily rental charge, plus applicable taxes and card-processing fees, for each day until the vehicle is returned or recovered.

Continuing Responsibility for the Vehicle

The customer remains responsible for the vehicle and all obligations under the rental agreement until the vehicle has been returned to the approved location, properly secured, and the keys have been received.

Returning a vehicle late without an approved extension may also affect the customer’s eligibility for future rentals.

Vehicle Not Returned Within 24 Hours

If a vehicle remains unreturned for 24 hours after its scheduled return time without an approved extension, the vehicle will be considered seriously overdue. We may take lawful and reasonable steps to locate and recover the vehicle, including contacting the customer, emergency contacts, law enforcement, a towing company, a vehicle-recovery company, or other authorized service providers.

To the extent permitted by law and the rental agreement, the customer may be responsible for:

  • Additional rental charges;
  • Towing and vehicle-recovery expenses;
  • Storage and impound fees;
  • Reasonable administrative expenses;
  • Loss-of-use charges when permitted and supported;
  • Damage occurring while the vehicle remains in the customer’s possession or control; and
  • Other reasonable costs associated with locating, securing, or recovering the vehicle.

Failure to return the vehicle is not an authorized extension of the reservation and may result in further action permitted by the rental agreement and applicable law.

After-Hours Returns

An after-hours return is permitted only when the return method and location have been approved. The customer must park the vehicle in the designated area, remove personal belongings, secure the vehicle, and place the keys in the approved key-return location. The vehicle may not be inspected until the next business day, and the customer remains responsible for any damage, missing items, fuel or charge shortage, excessive cleaning, tolls, citations, or other charges identified during inspection, as allowed by the rental agreement and applicable law.

This website policy is a summary. If it conflicts with the signed rental agreement, the signed rental agreement controls to the extent permitted by law.
